Can Zbrush replace Maya or Max for production modelling
« on: February 12, 2017, 09:28:09 AM »
What do you guys think? There has been plenty of impressive works done with Zbrush lately. Can Zbrush really replace Maya or 3ds Max with modelling? It will be good to know which direction the industry is going.

What do you guys think?

ZBrush can really not replace Maya or 3DS Max. ZBrush essentially brings one thing to the table; it's gives artists the tools required to create meshes with high polygonal densities and it has been designed to do this pretty well. Retopology and rendering tools in Maya is way better than that of ZBrush... Not to mention shading, grooming (someone might at this point say "what about fibremesh", but why would anybody want to replace Mayas' xGen with Zbrushs' Fibremesh)... So I really doubt even Pixologic intended for ZBrush to replace Maya.

You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login fair points and I agree with you. However, do you know that 3DS Max studio may die very soon. There are rumours from Autodesk that they are planning to stop Max Studio at some point in the future

Really? They’ve also discontinued AutoCAD. Probably because they want to introduce new products to the market.

I have not heard about AutoCAD. However, It makes perfect sense to discontinue these items because technology had improved and there new products from Autodesk that provide same solutions in a much better way...
