The legend of Shango the third Emperor These views explain the Legend of the Shango the third Emperor of the old Oyo Empire, from his status as a warrior king to the tragedy of him burning his palace to ash out of anger. It also describes his feats in a form of veneration as thus: Sango o, Ọba Jagun Jagun, Iná lójú iná lẹ́nu, Ólùpè mọ̀nà mọ́ná...olóhùn bí àrá, Oníbinu tó sọ ààfín dí ééru. In English, Shango o, The Warrior king, he with fire in his eyes and mouth (Firebreather), Lightning Summoner with the voice of thunder, he with a temper to reduce a palace to ashes.
